Time is the variable most players forget to track. You set a loss limit, maybe a wager cap, and then three hours vanish. A session time limit closes that gap: it auto-logs you out when your preset time is up, regardless of what's happening on screen.

Setting your session time limit
Open your account menu. Click your username or avatar in the top-right corner of the screen. This opens the account dropdown.
Go to Settings. Select "Settings" from the dropdown menu.
Open the Responsible Gambling tab. Click the "Responsible Gambling" tab within your settings. You can also navigate directly to chips.gg/profile/general-responsible-gambling if you're already logged in. Find the Session Limit tool. Locate the Session Limit section on the page. The help center describes it as a feature that lets you "control your time awareness by setting a limit for your session to auto log you out." That phrasing is precise: when the limit is reached, the platform logs you out (Account chips.gg). It is not a warning. It is an exit.
Enter your time value and save. Set the session length you want, then confirm. The limit takes effect for your current and future sessions.
Consider pairing it with a Reality Check
The Reality Check is a separate tool in the same Responsible Gambling section. Where a session limit ends your session automatically, a Reality Check surfaces a reminder at regular intervals while you continue playing. The help center describes it as a way to "stay aware of the time you spend on site in each session."
Think of them as two different functions:
- Reality Check: periodic prompts that keep time visible while you're still active. Useful if you want awareness without a hard cutoff.
- Session Limit: a hard cutoff. No prompt, no override option during play. You're logged out.
If you find that reminders don't change your behavior in the moment, the session limit is the right tool. If you want to stay aware but trust yourself to stop, the Reality Check handles that. You can enable both.

After saving, verify the limit appears as active in the Responsible Gambling tab. The setting should display your chosen duration.
To test it without playing through a full session, you can note the time you set the limit and monitor whether the auto-logout triggers correctly. If the limit doesn't appear as saved, refresh the page and check again. If the tab shows no active limits after multiple attempts, contact chips.gg support directly rather than assuming the limit is running in the background.
One thing not to do: assume the limit is active just because you clicked save. Confirm it is displayed before you start playing.
